Blogroll
- PARIS BREAKFAST Carol Gilot’s blog is lively and fun but her drawings and watercolors of food, chefs and even a cup of coffee … WOW!!!!
- THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE Probably the Greatest Western, John Wayne’s performance (no matter what I thought of his politics) defines the art of film acting.
- CITIZEN KANE The perfect motion picture
- SENSES OF CINEMA – Jean Renoir Here’s a piece written by my friend, mentor and college professor James Leahy about probably the greatest director of them all. Once you’re there check out the magazine itself an incredible on-line resource of critical articles, their “Great Directors”
- THE PROVENCE POST There is no place else on Earth quite like Provence – okay so you knew that already. But this may be one of the best places to find out why.
- IDA LUPINO just read wikipedia’s bio
- ANDY WARHOL I wish people would take his films seriously
- Paris by Mouth New, big, ambitious and just about everybody I know is working on it
- ELENA ROSSINI You’ve got to see her work. An extraordinary eye.
- JOSEF VON STERNBERG The Scarlet Empress, The Devil Is a Woman, Shanghai Express – von Sternberg’s movies were about treachery and shadows
- FELLINI 81/2 is the only film I’ve ever seen that reveals the pain of becoming an adult. The White Shiek, La Strada, Nights of Cabiria are just plain masterpieces
- HIDDEN KITCHEN Not so secret since the NY TIMES article
- Beth Arnold A LETTER FROM PARIS Very cool, thoughts, visits, exhibits — letters from someone who lives here
- Lost in Cheeseland The true adventures of a woman from Philadelphia who marries a Frenchman, travels, writes and longs for cupcakes but has long since discovered that frommage has nothing to do with her hometown’s cheese steak.
- DORIE GREENSPAN Her 11th book on baking is coming out this Fall, she learned French baking next Pierre Hermes… and without her — well anyway she is THE authority
- Ralph Starkweather I know Ralph but that’s not why I’m posting his site – he’s an incredible photographer now filmmaker
- PARIS NOTEBOOK I first met Phyllis Flick ten years ago when she’d moved to Paris on a whim. Apparently she spent the last decade finding … well her latest posts are about where to find the best ice creams and a tour of Kurdish cuisine
- La Derniere Goutte if you don’t know Juan, Patty or the shop you’re missing one of the pleasures of this city

Love it. Would be fun if views could make/post their own similar videos to the site. Of course, they probably wouldn’t be of the ghettto, but still…
I’d thought of that actually and would love people to submit stuff – just a matter of how to do it technically and if there are any parameters like length subject matter etc.
